“Our connection to the earth should be steady and joyful.”
– Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (‪2:46‬)

Cultivating the ability to concentrate while remaining calm and relaxed in our yoga practice may be the key to finding the same balance in our lives off the mat.

In this 2-hour workshop we’ll take a closer look at this teaching from the sage Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Chapter 2, Sutra 46, breaking down and exploring how the sutra teaches us the importance of seeking balance in all aspects of our lives.

When sthira (steadiness) is in excess we may have too ‘fixed’ an attitude or the inability to see other points of view. When the opposite sukham (ease) is dominant, we may float through life without making any effort, or blame others for our situation, not taking responsibility for our own lives. Finding the middle ground will help us find contentment and allow us to sustainably serve others.

This workshop will incorporate pranayama (yogic breathing), chanting, some moving asana sequences, some held asana, meditation and deep relaxation. It’s designed for all levels including those with an established practice and those who are establishing their practice.

Bookings essential.
